The Church of the Nazarene ministers in 155 world areas. The newest world areas entered are: Africa Region Guinea Conakry and Niger; Eurasia Region—Moldova and Norway.*
More than 790 missionaries were deployed from approximately 40 world areas in 2008 (including 508 Mission Corps volunteers and tentmakers) with more than 190 missionary kids.*
More than 11,000 volunteers participated in mission in 2008. In addition to Mission Corps and tentmakers, there were 728 Work & Witness teams and 94 Youth in Mission participants.
Churches in world mission areas numbered 11,300 churches (an increase of 8.4%) with 1.2 million members (an increase of 9.4%) in those areas.*
More than 430 districts have been established around the world with more than 24,000 clergy.*
More than 30,500 residential students study in 40 Bible colleges and seminaries and 11 universities in world mission areas, and 14,539 extension students receive their education at 30 education extension centers.*
People are treated at 64 medical clinics and hospitals and thousands of compassionate ministry centers.*
More than 320 retired missionaries received pensions.*
In 2008, 231 literature projects were completed in 56 languages. More than 700 active projects are currently underway, representing 62 languages. Some of these projects will take a minimum of 3 years to complete.*
World Mission DVD and JESUS Film received infrastructure globally.*
Churches in the United States gave US $29.2 million for Approved Mission Specials.
The Award of Excellence overpayment amount exceeded US $1.4 million in fiscal year 2008. During the 15 years of this NMI emphasis, the church has entered 57 world areas.
More than 3,000 churches and individuals gave US $2.6 million for the NMI 90th Anniversary project, “Books for Pastors—Tools for Ministry.” Giving for the project in 2008 increased US $26,866. Each world mission region completed a strategic plan for implementation, and several fields have distributed books funded by generous giving globally.
Missionary Health Care provided US $549,437 in medical assistance for Nazarene missionaries.
NMI partnered with World Mission Broadcast, giving US $562,316 to reach the unreached in 75 countries, 30 languages, 85 programs, and 1,397 broadcasts.
NMI generated US $251,407 through LINKS, a vital connection between churches and missionaries around the world.
Nazarenes gave US $3.1 million for Alabaster to fund 236 construction projects on mission fields, averaging 4.5 projects per week.
International Student Scholarship Fund (NMI 80th Anniversary project) provided more than 150 scholarships for students to attend campus-based Nazarene theological institutions globally.
NMI partnered with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries to give US $7,686,978 to send 43,020 Crisis Care Kits for disaster response and to support 11,913 children through Child Development, an increase of 1,708 children..
NMI assisted Work & Witness in raising US $4,746,694 to deploy 728 teams. An average of 14 teams per week and 10,750 participants donated more than 390 years of labor.
